THIS WEEK AT THE DIGITAL CAFÉ TOUR:
THE DCT WRAP PARTY

Updated 8/14/06

August 19, 2006 - 8:30 PM - The DCT Wrap Party with Donovan Chapman, Laura Dodd and Friday's Child, plus sneak-preview videos from all of our artists will be featured on a giant screen during a wine & cheese reception.

Through more than a decade in the military, including five years as an elite Air Force pararescueman who has seen action in both Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom, Donovan Chapman brings his style of modern country with Hawaiian influences to the Digital Cafe Tour's Summer 2006 Wrap Party. Honor, responsibility, faith, love in all its complexities - these all feed into the message this gifted singer/songwriter is determined to bring to America with his debut album, "There Is No War."

A native of Gadsden, AL, Laura Dodd has performed in musicals, on television, and has opened for several internationally-known stars, such as: Maynard Ferguson, Sandi Patti, Patty Loveless, Josh Turner, and Rascal Flatts. Her first single, "WOW," charted at 54 in the MusicRow Magazine Country Breakout Chart. Laura is also very active with the VSA Arts organization, an international organization that supports artists with disabilities, and won VSA's 2003 Panasonic Young Soloist's Award. Laura has toured extensively all over the country, including the Nashville NARAS Grammy Block Party in May 2004, performing with Ben Vereen and Ronin Tynan in Washington, DC in June 2004, the "Florida Salutes its Heroes" concert in June, 2004 and opening for Bruce Hornsby in Bethesda, MD for an ADA Watch Benefit Concert. Laura's steady rise to stardom was punctuated by her invitation to sing the National Anthem at the White House on July 12, 2004 for President George W. Bush. Laura co-produced her acoustic album, "Songbird," with DCT/Friday's Child's Tom Walker, exploring Country, Blues, Pop and Folk genres to sculpt a unique album that showcases Laura's vocal talents.

Since its original formation in 1996, Friday's Child has continued to defy any boundary or category in the music business. Tom Walker, front man for the band, put Friday's Child on the map through a continuous tour of clubs, colleges and in-store performances at Borders Books and Music Stores all over the country. Listed under its own genre, Power Acoustic, Friday's Child's iconoclastic presence in the market has made the band a benchmark in the Indie music world. The crowds the band drew at their in-store concerts were unusually large and sales were continuously high. The band cross-promoted the shows by playing nearby music venues on the tour and compiled and maintained a huge email-marketing list. Friday's Child flourished in the niche it had created. Ignoring the conventional music business, Friday's Child focused the majority of its resources on creating a large Internet audience and constant touring. This concentrated effort caused Friday's Child to be voted Best Rock Band by millions of surveyed Internet radio listeners worldwide, with three songs tied for number 1 in the Rock category for two years running. In July of 2005, Friday's Child partnered with Brian Jude of Dragon Rider Productions to record a concert DVD called "Friday's Child: Live at Luna Stage." The first edited clips of the show were very powerful and reached a large, devoted on-line audience in a very compelling way. The response to the clips led to the evolution of The Digital Cafï??? Tour.

Each show is hosted by our official DCT emcee, WDHA-FM's Jeff Charone. The Luna Stage crew created a top-notch stage and lighting design, while DCT sponsor QSC has provided a state-of-the-art sound system. Don't miss a show! But if you do, you can catch it soon at http://www.digitalcafetour.com!
